SUMMARY:September Artist of the Month Opening Reception - Jack Edelstein
DESCRIPTION:September 2026 Artist of the Month: Jack Edelstein \nExhibit Title: NonDualistic: The Truth of Polar Opposites \n\nJack Edelstein’s early artistic efforts began with wood: sculptural forms and organically shaped furniture that echoed the contours of the natural world. In 2019\, he set aside his chisels and power tools and turned toward graphic art\, opening a new chapter in his creative practice. \nJack’s graphic designs are devoted entirely to the ancient symbol of yin and yang — also know as the Taijitu or the Cosmic Dyad — the emblem of complementary polarity. He explores the profound truth that opposites are not enemies but partners in a higher harmony. Light and shadow\, love and hate\, good and evil: each member of the pair exists only through the other\, each completes what the other begins. \nThe Taijitu becomes a lens through which to contemplate duality not as conflict\, but as interdependence—a philosophical rendering that stresses complementarity rather than opposition. My art is an inquiry into the deeper unity that holds tension without erasing difference\, a visual meditation on the way truth emerges from the meeting of contraries. \nThrough repeated engagement with this singular form\, Jack highlights the quiet intelligence of balance\, and the unity that emerges when dualities meet without erasing one another. \nTechnically\, the graphic renderings rely on precise symmetry\, controlled curvature\, and deliberate spatial tension. The background of each Taijitu becomes a stage on which the words themselves balance\, mirror\, or invert one another. Typography is treated as a sculptural element—weighted\, rotated\, or nested to echo the swirling motion of the Dyad. The result is a fusion of language and form: a graphic practice that uses words as shapes and shapes as philosophy. \nAll proceeds go to Groundcover News. \nWebsite: www.JackEdelstein.com

SUMMARY:October Artist of the Month Opening Reception - Jasmin Iskandar de Caro
DESCRIPTION:October 2026 Artist of the Month: Jasmin Iskandar de Caro \nExhibit Title: Fluir \n\nFluir\, Spanish meaning “to flow”\, presents a series of abstract paintings composed of fluid\, organic forms that surge and dissolve. Shapes stretch\, merge\, and disperse\, suggesting an atmospheric space in constant flux. \nJasmin Iskandar de Caro’s visual language operates as an allegory for shifting states of consciousness. Just as the forms resist fixation\, perception itself is destabilized—moving through clarity\, distortion\, expansion\, and collapse. The paintings evoke the sensation of thought and feeling blending together\, highlighting the fluidity between different states of mind. \nAbstraction acts as a way to extend the moment between seeing and recognition. In this space of perception\, Iskandar de Caro invites the viewer to further pause their thinking-mind\, which seeks to label and understand. We are asked instead to live inside the questions raised by the work itself.  \nJasmin Iskandar de Caro was born outside Los Angeles\, California to immigrant parents whose roots span Mexico\, Italy\, and China by way of Indonesia. Raised in an assimilation-driven household with little connection to a defined cultural lineage\, she developed an early sense of dislocation that led her to question ideas of identity and belonging. Over time\, her inquiry shifted toward understanding belonging not as a cultural inheritance\, but as a deeper state of being. \nArtist Statement \nI create abstract paintings that are visually complex and suggestive of a narrative arc\, inviting the eye to move throughout the composition as though embarking on a journey. I am deeply influenced by James Joyce’s concept of aesthetic arrest—the idea that a work of art can suspend the psyche in a moment of pure perception. By offering a stimulating visual field\, my work seeks to extend the moment in which perception arises before interpretation begins. \nWebsite: www.BosqueOscuro.com

SUMMARY:November Artist of the Month Opening Reception - Sandra Drabant
DESCRIPTION:November 2026 Artist of the Month: Sandra Drabant \nExhibit Title: Where the Brush Leads: Spontaneous and Intuitive Paintings \n\nSandra Drabant earned a BA in Fine Art and a Graduate Diploma in Education in Australia\, followed by a Master’s in Art Therapy from the University of Illinois Chicago. She currently works as an art therapist at Michigan Medicine and has exhibited in solo\nand group shows in Australia and the United States. \nArtist Statement \nThis body of work is a series of paintings that evolved from an intuitive process. My paintings take shape without any predetermined plan and develop by spontaneous response and choice\, often relying on my instincts to guide the work. This process is creatively freeing as there is no “right or wrong”\, just what intuitively feels harmonious to me in the moment. \nThese paintings are layered canvases of color and texture. The surprise of this intuitive process is an engaging and imaginative experience that has revealed images of nature\, symbolizing concepts such as growth\, change\, life\, death\, spirituality and the passage of time. \nWebsite: https://arteverafter.com/
