Olam is a hybrid Jewish-Buddhist group providing the opportunity to meditate in a Jewish context. Practice is led by Rabbi Aura Ahuvia. The goal of the group is to develop or deepen your practice through shared experience and mutual support. Opens with a brief teaching, followed by guided meditation practice, and concludes with group reflection. Grounded in Kabbalah and Jewish spiritual wisdom, and patterned on the model of a Buddhist sangha. All levels of practice and familiarity are welcome. Pre-registration requested. Direct your questions to Rabbi Aura or pre-register by emailing JewBuMeditation@gmail.com.
Music, mindfulness and fostering connection have shaped Aura Ahuvia’s rabbinate. Since her ordination by ALEPH, the Jewish Renewal movement, in 2014, Aura has served Reform, Conservative, Reconstructionist, Renewal, unaffiliated and merged congregations. In 2020, at the start of Covid, she joined an online Buddhist Sangha under the direction of Barbara Newell, a former Zen Buddhist nun who once served as Thich Nhat Hanh’s translator. That weekly online experience, which continues to this day, helped influence the way Aura thinks about building community over time. Aura also helps individuals attain healthier habits of mind, body and spirit through personal and psychedelic coaching.
